Capilano University (CapU)
Capilano University is a public, teaching-focused university based in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
It was founded in 1968 as Capilano College.
The main campus is on a 13-hectare site in North Vancouver (opened in 1973).
The university serves around 12,700 students annually (about 9,000 in for-credit programs, plus non-credit and international students).
It offers over 120 programs across 5 faculties: Arts & Sciences; Business & Professional Studies; Education, Health & Human Development; Fine & Applied Arts; and Global & Community Studies.
Notable programs: Bachelor of Motion Picture Arts, Music Therapy (4-year), Tourism & Outdoor Recreation Management (4-year), Indigenous Digital Filmmaking.
The university has multiple campuses: North Vancouver (main), Squamish, Sunshine Coast (Sechelt), and Lonsdale.
It is named after Chief Joe Capilano, a leader of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation.
