Stanford University
Stanford University (formally Leland Stanford Junior University) is a private research university located in Stanford, California.
Founded in 1891 by Leland and Jane Stanford in memory of their son, Stanford has grown into one of the world’s leading universities.
With a suburban main campus of more than 8,000 acres, Stanford combines a strong entrepreneurial culture (deeply tied to the rise of Silicon Valley) with rigorous academic programs across disciplines. It is composed of several schools, including engineering, humanities & sciences, business, law, medicine, education, and sustainability.
Stanford is noted for its research strength, global outlook, and emphasis on innovation. It also has very competitive admissions, a strong financial aid program, and a high rate of students graduating with little or no debt.
